I have been drawing digital art for about 8 years, and my drawing method has changed a little even when I had my graphics tablet 3 years ago. I can say my style has improved over the years. (I do not post around 80% of my works especially earlier ones). However, seeing the beautiful work of others brings a completely humbling perspective - there are always people doing something better, and there is only one thing to do:

Learn from them.

So now I'll be practicing new (anime/manga) coloring techniques. My old style involves minimal painting; most of the coloring is done via vectors, make the resolution almost limitless but are extremely time- and effort-intensive. Also, I see that I'm not using the most of my tablet. I want to change that.

Also, I have started uploading some of my works in my pixiv account. Pixiv: nyanzyme

So, to the people who have inspired me to draw something more beautiful: thank you. I might contact you especially if our geographical locations are close by.

Relaxed term

1 min read
This school term (May-Sept) is more like a semi-vacation. Our summer break is very short as compared to other universities, and I spent most of it on my Masters thesis. Now that it's over, we have a relaxed atmosphere perfect for doing creative stuff. And online games. I miss online games. >> Currently playing Phantasy Star Online II - SEA server (FO/TE)

I'll be preparing for a health sciences and biochemistry conference in Thailand and here in PH, so I'll need to get additional data (which means more experimentation).

In the meantime, I'll study and try making my very own journal skin.

Magister

1 min read
It's finally over. Research, Master's Thesis (defense) and the most difficult teaching term ever, combined.

I am looking forward to marching this June; if not, then in October (due to cut-off for graduation schedules). "Magister" kinda sounds more awesome than "Master", nyahaha.

The weather here is extremely hot; I have to apply a wet shirt/towel just to cool off and prevent heatstroke at noontime. Airconditioning is expensive and I only use it as a last resort.

Will be more active in DA now.

So my last journal entry was over 15 months ago! It's been a long time since I logged in, but I never stopped drawing. In fact, I can draw anywhere but I usually run out of ideas for titles so I don't upload my works until I have a nice title in mind.

This school term, I will be teaching in two departments (both Biology and Chemistry). It will not be easy. However, I only handle subjects that I love. I will handle Cell Biology (lab), Biochemistry, and the super difficult Chemical Calculations.

A lot of things happened in our country in the last quarter of 2013. And mostly unpleasant. I feel kind of frustrated that I cannot spare time for volunteering for the relief efforts, so right now I can only donate.

Happy new year to all! Personally I believe that change happens during the course of the year, not just on January 1, so I don't care about new year's resolutions or anything like that. Just try to be a better, more efficient person everytime, and find better ways to do the things you love doing.

As the term is being brought to a close, I am still thinking of how things turned out better than expected. This term was wrought with devastating weather that derailed our schedule (and even students' vacations). I'm glad we were able to finish and even exceed our lesson topics, and even managed to have a free class.

Last week my brother and I went to our high school's alumni homecoming. I thought I was alone for my batch that night; fortunately three others showed up. It was a wonderful opportunity to talk about our lives, and how we went on separate ways. It also increased my longing for PSHS even more. I also came across one of my works being shared around Facebook, and I am truly glad that people appreciate it (as well as linking to this page). It makes me want to make more PSHS-themed works, though we had some changes in the uniform and the campus setting that I am not entirely familiar with.

Grade consultation day is approaching fast, and I'm bracing myself for *many* grade inquiries. :D
