Rite of Passage by nyanzyme
Rite of Passage
Back in 2012 I attended the first graduation as faculty. In our university, full-time faculty are required to attend two graduation ceremonies per year to be eligible for promotion. However, much of the time in graduation is devoted to reciting a long list of the graduates, which could take about 2 hours.

I decided to do a rework of this drawing as the original one (in traditional media) is incomplete. Some of my thesis students have graduated/are due to graduate soon, and I'm very proud of them as their mentor.
Be careful with the reagents! by nyanzyme
Be careful with the reagents!
As a faculty of Chemistry I have way too many encounters with people accidentally dropping test tubes. However, I handle college and not high school.

This work is dedicated to my high school chemistry, and to my classmates as well.

Please do not drop reagents as the mess is difficult to clean up, and in worst cases, people will have to evacuate the laboratory.
Summer girl by nyanzyme
Summer girl
I intended this illustration for the (unusually short) hot summer in the Philippines. Now it's almost the middle of the rainy season so this one's overdue, but I'm uploading it anyway.

Made with pencil, fine line pen, and marker pens for shading.
Also a practice for even more intercrossed hair strands.
A Hallway of Dreams by nyanzyme
A Hallway of Dreams
Artwork dedicated to my visit to the 50th anniversary of our high school, PSHS. I went three hours early and this sight SHB 2F hallway by nyanzyme inspired me to draw this [Science and Humanities Bldg. 2F hallway].

These window works are not permanent and are periodically erased and created by the students.

Mostly vector graphics and digital painting. The uniforms are, of course, only loosely based on the real thing.
Fun with marker pens by nyanzyme
Fun with marker pens
So I bought a set of gray markers for shading. As a pencil user, I always found the 0.5 mm pencils to be superior for reaching tight corners. However, marker pens offer fast and consistent shades... as long as they don't run dry.

Part of me wants to analyze the composition of the marker ink using our high-tech lab equipment.

Also, I want to make our high school uniform more anime-like. This is in preparation for a comic/manga that I will be making soon.
I have been drawing digital art for about 8 years, and my drawing method has changed a little even when I had my graphics tablet 3 years ago. I can say my style has improved over the years. (I do not post around 80% of my works especially earlier ones). However, seeing the beautiful work of others brings a completely humbling perspective - there are always people doing something better, and there is only one thing to do:

Learn from them.

So now I'll be practicing new (anime/manga) coloring techniques. My old style involves minimal painting; most of the coloring is done via vectors, make the resolution almost limitless but are extremely time- and effort-intensive. Also, I see that I'm not using the most of my tablet. I want to change that.

Also, I have started uploading some of my works in my pixiv account. Pixiv: nyanzyme

So, to the people who have inspired me to draw something more beautiful: thank you. I might contact you especially if our geographical locations are close by.

Thank you very much!

Now I'm revising my old works. I realized there's so much potential in them but there are some errors that need to be corrected. Also I'm having more fun with marker pens than what I expect haha.

Anyway, I shall be posting more works soon.

Thanks for the greet and have a great time as always!

Good day! I hope you're active as an artist :3 I've been super busy with being a thesis adviser and research, that I relegated my arts as lower priority.

But I've been doing new art these days.

It's been a pleasure speaking in front of your community, and looking forward to learning new techniques and styles for all of us!
